The parish of Aberlour is situated on the southeastern bank of the River Spey, and was formerly known as Skirdustan. Death and burial records are quite sparse apart from the period from 1709 to about 1780 but the surviving records have been extracted from the Kirk Session Minutes, and from the Old Parish Register. The Minutes also contain entries of payments for Mortcloth dues, coffins, and funerals.
