The hidden city : a story of Aberdeen and its people

Smith, Robert, 1923-20081999
Books, Manuscripts
A companion to Robert Smith's "The granite city" this is the story of two cities - one we know today and one that no longer exists. Many years ago the city was contrained within what was known as the Royalty, a community "crowded with buildings and abominably filthy" which lay behind the shining new buildings and streets of the new city. It is this area that lies at the heart of the book, peopled with characters such as Buttermil Benzie, Pie Bob, Feel Willie, Ree Tappie and Sawdust Willie.
