The Vision; or Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso of Dante Alighieri : Rendered into English by David James MacKenzie Advocate, F.S.A. Scot

The author of this new translation of Dante is the late Sheriff MacKenzie, who for many years was a judge in Glasgow. His object in his translation was to give the English reader as an exact an idea as possible of the Italian original, and so the metre chosen and the scheme of rhymes correspond to it closely. It is hoped that, often as Dante has been translated into English, the present version may be found to have characteristics of its own which will render it interesting to the wide circle of Dante scholars throughout the English-speaking world.
